QR Code Safety Checker

Check where a QR code really leads, or who a PayNow code pays, before you open it. Spots common scam signs. Free and private.

Check a QR Code Before You Trust It

A QR code hides its destination until after you scan it, which makes it a favourite tool for scammers: fake codes stuck over real ones on parking machines and posters, codes in parcels and emails, and payment codes swapped at shop counters. This checker reads the code from a photo, screenshot or your camera and shows you in plain language what it will do — without opening it. For website links it shows the real website name and warns about look-alike addresses, link shorteners, insecure pages and app downloads. For PayNow and SGQR payment codes it shows who the money goes to and whether the amount is fixed. It also explains Wi-Fi, contact, phone and text-message codes. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use

  1. Upload or paste a photo or screenshot of the QR code, or tap "Scan with camera".
  2. Read the result: the real website or payee is shown first, followed by any warning signs.
  3. Only open the link or make the payment if the name matches what you expect.

Common use cases

  • Checking a QR code on a poster, flyer, parking sign or unexpected parcel.
  • Confirming who a PayNow QR code pays before scanning it with your banking app.
  • Inspecting a QR code sent in an email or message that claims to be from your bank or the government.
